A Day in the Life of a Country Wife

Sweet Pea

One year ago today, my whole mind set changed. I had been dating Termite for only a few months and was ridiculously in love with him. I was working graveyard shift and it was payday. I decided to take a lunch with one of my best friends, Stephanie. We went to Wal-Mart since it was the only place open and we didn't have anything else to do at 2 a.m. in the morning. Plus, I had just made a new resolution to get fit and healthy, I wanted to be toned so I wanted to buy workout equipment. I walked strait to the workout section and picked up 2 purple 5 pound weights and Jillian Michaels DVD- 30 Day Shred. Oooohhh yaaa! I was on my way to lookin smokin! Ha! I had been telling my friend Stephanie that Aunt FLOW hadn't made it to town yet. She kept telling me, "Your pregant, I just know it!" and "You need to buy a pregnancy test". I, however was not worried at all, I just figured it was stress and I had recently quit smoking. So I assumed that stress was the main cause. Oh but Stephanie wouldn't have it, she put a test in our cart anyway and we checked out. I was too pumped up about working out when I got off of work to really pay attention. We finished our shift at work and off to my apartment I went. It was a little after 6 a.m. when I unlocked my door. I was talking to Stephanie on the phone, (because we couldn't go a minute without talking to each other, even though we had spent the last 8 hours at work together) and started picking up my apartment. This is what happens next....

6:05 a.m.        Me: Ok, Well, I'm going to get off of here, I'll call you later
Stephanie: Ok, dont forget to take your test!
Me: Oh ya, ok, I will
Stephanie: Bye
Me: Bye

I walk to the bathroom and take the test. I leave it on the bathroom sink.
I put a load of laundry in the washer, put dishes in the dishwasher and wipe down my counters...

Me: (thinking to myself) Oh, I need to go check that test

I see it. I can't believe it. What??!

Me: OH MY, FUUUC,,SSSSHHHHHH,,,OH...

I fall on my bathroom floor, my stomach in knots and turning, the floor was cold, It felt like Heaven! I could feel my whole body shaking, but I was smiling the biggest smile I've ever smiled! I finally got off of my floor and dialed Stephanie.

Stephanie: Hello?
Me: It's positive!!!!!!!!
Stephanie: AAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!
ME: What do I do now?
Stephanie: Hang up the phone and call Termite!! ha ha haha!

I hung up the phone and thought about calling Termite. I didn't know what to say to him but I knew I didn't want to tell him over the phone. I wanted to see his face when I told him. I wanted to see the look he made when he found out I was carrying his child. I make the call.....

6:13 a.m.  Termite: Hello?? (in his scruffy, sleepy voice)
Me: You awake?
Termite: No? What's wrong?
Me: Nothing, I just want to see you before you go to work today, can you come by?
Termite: Umm..Why?
Me: Because I do.
Termite: No, what's going on? What's wrong? Tell me...
Me: Well, I want to tell you something, in person..
Termite: Just tell me now..
Me: Ok, fine!!.(deep breath)...I took a pregnancy test..It's positive
Long pause ...........................................
Termite: That's cool!
Me: What?..I don't know what that means? (nervous chuckle) ha..ha?
Termite: Let me call you back in a minute, I'm going to take a shower...
Me: uhh..ok..bye

I waited impatiently for him to call me back. I was too excited to sleep, too excited to clean, too restless to do anything..so I waited..

When Termite called me back he was a in a totally different mood. He was happy and just as excited as I was. We decided not to tell anyone about it until I went to the doctor and found for sure that I was indeed pregnant. We told our family first and then friends.
I spent the next 9 months adjusting to a new life, it was fantastic and I wouldn't change it for anything in this world!
